Eating out in St Mawes and the Roseland

There are a good number of pubs and restaurants on the Roseland, most of which serve food with locally sotrced ingrediants. The Ship Inn at Portloe, The Kings Head at Ruan, The Roseland Inn, The Plume of Feathers and more. There are two pubs in St Mawes, the Victory & the Rising Sun, although the St Mawes hotel is more of a pub/bar than it is a hotel. All offer fantastic food and award winning local and national beers and wines. The two pubs and the St Mawes Hotel all have comfortable accommodation attached on a B&B basis.

Both the hotels and the pubs in the village have separate restaurants, with the hotel restaurants being open to non-residents. All have excellent menus and wines on offer.

New Inn - Veryan,

Another excellent 16th Century Inn perfectly placed for exploring the Roseland. On top of wholesome menu, including a jumbo rump steak, the New Inn also has accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis.

Ship Inn Portloe,
Portloe is perfect for long cliff top walks and exploring the coastline. The Ship Inn is the only pub in the village situated just metres from the waters edge where fishermen work their boats.

The Rising Sun,
To cater for the discerning tastes of our visitors, the Rising Sun has managed to combine a mixture of both modern and traditional style in an atmosphere of luxury and elegance. Our restaurant, run by Master Chef Ann Long, has an enviable reputation for fine cuisine with imaginative and innovative dishes.

The Victory Inn,
The Victory Inn, St Mawes, is an extremely popular traditional pub offering fine food & award winning beers. It the last remaining 'proper' pub in St Mawes. The Victory also has a separate restaurant upstairs with an adjoining outside roof terrace with harbour views.

Royal Standard Gerrans,
Just up the road from the Plume is the Royal Standard in the adjacent village called Gerrans. In reality these two villages do join. The Royal Standard is another traditional pub offering good pub grub and local Cornish ales from the St Austell Brewery.

Plume of Feathers - Portscatho,
Allways a great atmosphere in this pub, very traditional with good food and good beer. The Plume is positioned right in the centre of Portscatho and just a few metres from the beaches. There is parking in the immediate area but it does fill up quickly so you may need to use the large carpark just outside of the village.

Roseland Inn - Philleigh,
A wonderful pub tucked away in the small village of Philleigh just minutes away from the King Harry Ferry and ten minutes from St Mawes. This 16th Century pub has a good seating capacity both inside and out and a very popular menu

Kings Head Pub - Ruan Lanihorne,

Recently refurbished, the Kings head lies in idilyc surroundings well off the beaten track. The pub has a separate restaurant area as well as a beer garden and outside terrace. The Kings Head is quickly gaining popularity for, amongst other things, their signature Duck dish! A very friendly welcome awaits you here, as does fantastic service.

St Mawes Hotel and Bar,
ST MAWES HOTEL - The hub of the St Mawes Hotel is our 2 bars. The ground floor bar that opens out onto the street in the summer, is ideal for a cappuccino or a pint of Sharps finest Cornish ale, while also a great place to watch the world go by and talk to the locals while having a bite to eat from our hearty pub grub style menu.
