Short breaks are the prefect solution if you need some rest and relaxation yet cannot spare a whole week. In fact we find that part of the magic of St Mawes is that even if we can only spend three or four days away, we always return completely refreshed and feeling as if we have been away for much longer. Whatever time of year that you choose to stay in St Mawes you will always find that there is lots of exciting and interesting things to see and do.
Short breaks are available in all our houses please call us to discuss your individual requirements.
Winter
We just love the winter months in St Mawes. Whatever the weather we know we can enjoy ourselves. Winter walks on a blustery beach ,blowing the cobwebs away or exploring one of the numerous gardens that remain some of Cornwalls best kept secrets.. If you want to completely relax and do nothing but curl up on the settee in front of the fire and read a good book, the houses with their log burning stoves are perfect.
Christmas
Father Christmas will find you in St Mawes !
We would be delighted to arrange that your Christmas away from home is as stress free as you would like it. We will happily send in the Elves to transform the house with fabulous festive decorations and Christmas Tree. You may wish to indulge in your own chef coming to the house to cook for you and your family.
New Year
St Mawes is the perfect place to welcome in the New Year. Hotel Tresanton organise a fabulous New Years Eve Dinner with dancing . It is popular with resident guests and non resident guests but reservations are taken well in advance.
Alternatively with advance notice we would be delighted to organise for a chef to come to the house and cater for you and your friends and family allowing you to enjoy a relaxing New Years Eve celebration.
Spring
Spring is a magical time on the Roseland Peninsula with many flowers and plants waking from their winter sleep and providing much interest and beauty both in our gardens and some spectacular displays of camelias and rhododendrons and more in the official gardens .
Easter
Stargazers, Moonrakers and Dreamcatchers have beautiful gardens which are great for exploring and are perfect for Easter Egg hunts! We can even organise the Easter Bunny to visit the garden.
Some of our children’s most treasured memories are of the amazing Easter Egg hunts that we have had in Moonrakers garden.
Summer
St Mawes is alive and buzzing as summer arrives. The boats are brought out of storage and add to the beauty of the harbour and St Anthonys headland. The kayaks explore the Percuil River, Place, and harbour waters. Children enjoy sailing lessons and windsurfing lessons. The village beaches are perfect suntraps for mum and dad to sunbathe whilst the children have fun splashing in the sea and rockpooling. Tavern Beach and Summers Beach both have pontoons set out providing everyone with a target to swim to and a fun place to jump from !
Crabbing becomes a daily competition to beat yesterdays catch ! Our very dear friends Clive and Pauline, the local butchers supply polite and appreciative children with off cuts for the best bait in town ! If your lucky we may disclose our top tips for good crabbing !
There are some fabulous beaches to visit in and around St Mawes.
Barbecues Stargazers , Moonrakers, Dreamcatchers all have barbecues which provide the perfect ending to a summers day . Children can run around in the gardens and have fun whilst the grown ups relax and enjoy a glass of wine and dinner .
Autumn
Autumn is beautiful on the Roseland Peninsula. The weather can be warm and the gardens colourful as the leaves on the trees change colour.
At the Lost Gardens of Heligan there is a magnificent display of Pumpkins, Gourds and Fruits and Vegetables. As part of The Big Draw visitors of every age are invited to draw or paint a part of the display. Our children love this event and it is a date for the diary every October half term.
